Career
From 1963 to 1976, Alexandre Revcolevschi was affiliated with CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) becoming ‘Directeur de Recherche CNRS’ in 1975. After his PhD in 1969, he was a visiting scientist (1970-1971) at the Center for Materials Science and Engineering of MIT, working also partly in Lincoln Lab. He was appointed in 1976 Professor at the University of Paris (Orsay) where he created the Laboratoy of Solid State Chemistry. The laboratory grew over the years with, in addition of solid state chemists, specialists of thermodynamics and metallurgists. From 2005 to 2009 he was Dean of Science of Paris University (Orsay). After 2009, he was involved in the planning of the new University of Paris-Saclay on the Saclay plateau, south of Paris.
Alexandre Revcolevschi has published more than 600 scientific papers, with many international collaborations. He is a member of the Romanian Academy of Sciences, and Professor Honoris Causa of the Universities of Bucarest and Iasi. He is now Emeritus Professor.
